12 Major problems/prospects There are problems relating to quality of the raw material specifically with the consistency or rather the lack of it.
Most of the times unit do not get any value added service from dealers regarding technical inputs or advice relating to the material they are buying as is the case in many industries.
More than one third of the units do job work with material being supplied by the buyer or directly by a supplier picked by the buyer At present the required experience/ marketing culture is non-existent in these units.
Assembly operation is another area where these units need to upgrade their capability. Some units are run by entrepreneurs without format technical education but of shop floor experience as operator/foreman/supervisors in other small /medium units.
Most of the new graduated do not prefer to work in small industry and even if they join they leave within a couple of years of experience to join bigger units
Most of the entrepreneurs are aware of the latest technology development but are reluctant to invest for modernization.
